Backstops

Backstops and freewheel couplings are used in all applications where operation in one direction of rotation only is desirable or permitted. Backstops and freewheel clutches consist of three main components.
- The inner ring forms the connection between the backstop and the shaft.
- The cage guides and positions the sprags between the inner and outer rings.
- The outer ring connects the backstop to the housing or the flexible coupling.
